French Secret was developed for extremely sensitive and damaged skin, which makes it well-suited care for those undergoing cancer treatment.

Editor-in-Chief
A cancer diagnosis changes everything, including one’s skin. While the primary goal of any cancer treatment is survival, reaching that goal can be arduous. French Secret is a brand providing this special population with some relief from their often compromised skin. Sylvie Beljanski, author of Winning The War On Cancer, is the woman behind this new line of products. Learning at an early age from her father— Dr. Mirko Beljanski, who discovered natural solutions to fight cancer—Beljanski’s skin care remedies are said to help brighten and moisturize the skin without interfering with any medications or treatments. French Secret uses natural extracts and essential oils to promote the overall well-being of the skin giving it a refreshed and revitalized look and feel. And while other skin care formulas may contain “chemicals that can destabilize the cells causing harm to the skin,” French Secret counters with nature, noted Beljanski. “The most common skin conditions coming from chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatments are rashes, dry itchy skin and brittle nails. Currently the market is divided into two great families: on one hand, you have the traditional, mass-market products full of synthetic preservatives, but delivered in luxury packaging. On the other hand, you have a minimalist approach with few organic ingredients. Most skin care products in the first category contain ingredients that are listed as carcinogens as well as parabens. Many in the second category are not ‘enough’ to be very effective. Also, they are often delivered in plastic containers, creating a risk that plastic molecules will leak into the cream,” she told Happi, noting that all the ingredients in French Secret are organically grown plant essences, botanical extracts, essential oils, non-GMO and paraben-free. In addition, Beljanski said they are “concentrated to be highly efficient.” Key ingredients harnessed in the formulations include sea buckthorn and rosa mosqueta oil—which have storied pasts and provide products with proven efficacy, according to Beljanski. “Sea buckthorn’s Latin name is Hippophae rhamnoides and Hippophae in Greek means ‘shiny horse. Pegasus was known as a flying horse, and whenever its feet would touch the earth, a spring of water would burst forth. The legend translates into optimal hydration for the skin, promoting faster recovery from daily damage resulting from sun, pollution and stress,” she said. Rosa mosqueta oil, derived from a beautiful pink flower that grow highs in the Andes, is rich in retinoic acid, making it very beneficial in the treatment of photo-aged skin. “Because the retinoic acid contained in the oil is in a natural state it can quickly produce positive changes in the skin without secondary side-effects, helping to smooth out wrinkles, reduce unsightly age spots and even regenerate scarred and damaged skin,” noted Beljanski. These ingredients drive formulations like the brand’s Signature Cream, which Beljanski bills as a “unique, expert combination of natural ingredients with legendary healing properties that have been scientifically validated: when time-tested traditions meet the latest research in the field of dermatology.” According to Beljanski, the result is a light-yet rich cream “which will literally melt into your skin to deliver the best results that one can expect from Mother Nature, when perfected by science.” French Secret’s packaging is equally as pleasing and functional—it is housed in painted glass jar that protects ingredients from light oxidation and plastic contamination, according to the company. French Secret is available online at www.natural-source.com and inside Maison Beljanski, Beljanski’s boutique and tea room in New York City, which is dedicated to the “Beljanski Approach to Wellness.” Beljanski is also in the process of launching an organic line of skin care products. The range, which will be called Beljanskin, will contain golden leaves gingko extract as well as a specific mix of green teas. “The future of skin care with our company is something we are extremely excited about, as we pride ourselves on always bringing to the market new natural ingredients that deliver on their promise,” Beljanski concluded.
